About us
Fondazione AMGA was established in 2003
by Azienda Mediterranea Gas e Acqua, a multiutility company based
in Genoa and operating in the water and energy sectors, as a non-profit
and non-confessional organization, to initiate, promote and further
cultural initiatives aimed at safeguarding nature and environment,
particularly in the field of water resources and water management.
In particular, the Foundation aims at:
- increasing and disseminating knowledge and understanding
of the water cycle and its interaction with environment by identifying,
supporting and commissioning research which enhances water quality
programmes and systems for environmental protection
- fostering and supporting research programmes that
develop a co-ordinated approach to water, stormwater, and wastewater
management issues for environmental protection, economic growth
and social development
- reporting, disseminating and monitoring research results
to promote a better understanding of water environment and a
sustainable management and development of resources
- supporting programmes in the water field at a national
and international level that facilitate the interaction between
practitioners, educators, researchers, decision-makers and the
community.
- carrying out research on management models in the
water industry sector to evaluate different management options
in different regional scenarios.
Dissemination of knowledge and project results is made through
the organisation of training courses and workshops and publication
of scientific papers including, synopses of completed studies,
monographs and conference proceedings.
Scientific results obtained through Fondazione AMGA-sponsored
research projects intend to become important reference tools by
which to support and sustain water industry growth and development.
